India’s Daughters

//Hey guys! This post is the about the gradual development of women in the society. Be sure to comment if you’ll like my posts. //

Another one of India’s daughters,

Had her genesis in a village.

The tormented foetus lay disposed in the well,

Chance had snatched her cruelly, her life a daze.

Another one of India’s daughters,

Was required to sit home and raise a family.

Denied the privilege to attend school,

For housewives, education wasn’t necessary.

Another one of India’s daughters,

Was brutally raped the previous night.

The government blamed her skimpy clothing,

Her parents opposed, but no justice in sight.

Another one of India’s daughters ,

Was married off, an unnecessary load.

Compelled to sleep, no consent required,

Because marital sex was permitted in the penal code.

Another one of India’s daughters,

Raised her voice against the prevailing society.

Shunning the delusions and religious customs,

She romped energetically, worshipping Gods and deities.

Another one of India’s daughters,

Glared audaciously at her husband.

Hunching his shoulders, scampering to his knees,

Begging for forgiveness as he’d sinned.

Another one of India’s daughters ,

Birthed intrepid girls of her own.

To penalise the rapists and defend themselves,

This grit and determination enveloped their flesh and bone.

Another one of India’s daughters,

Was buried in the grave beside her man.

Achieving freedom, she could heave in relief,

After widening mindsets, throughout this long time span.
